About the Author
John Bunyan (1628-1688), preacher and author, was jailed for his nonconformist preaching. During his imprisonment he devoted himself to Bible study, reading, and writing. He is widely recognized for his narrative genius and his vigorous, simple, concrete writing style. Besides The Pilgrim's Progress, Bunyan wrote several other books, including Grace Abounding and Holy War. Warren W. Wiersbe, well-known Bible conference speaker and teacher, has written more than 100 books. His extensive notes in The New Pilgrim's Progress offer invaluable background information for today's readers of this classic. Judith E. Markham, active in publishing for over forty years, has edited hundreds of books, including more than seventeen ECPA Christian Book Award winners. She is the Editor Adviser for RBC Ministries.

This is an excellent modern language rewite of this timeless classic. Extensive notes by Warren Wiersbe are also helpful and enlightening. The Easy Print edition makes reading less of a chore for the visually challenged. A highly recommended read.
LOVED IT!!! Bunyan is SO GIFTED in his writing spiritual truths in allegory fashion. His poetry is amazing too as he teaches spiritual truths in that fashion as well. But, beware - it is “old english†language in his poetry, but beautiful! Just slow down and soak it in.
Get this version of Pilgrims Progress if you want to understand it best. The notes in this book are outstanding and are presented along side the text so you don't have to flip pages. I have given out about 10 copies of this book to my friends and they have all loved it. I have read this book to young and old and they all enjoyed it. Yes, it is a paraphase but it lovingly captures the message and explains the historical context.Do not forget that Bunyan was a simple tinker; a practical man. I don't think he would have objected to this paraphrase so long as the message he intended came through clearly and was accessible to everyone, and in this, it well accomplishes. The late Warren W. Wiersbe was a well known international Bible conference teacher, a gifted communicator, and was known as a "pastors, pastor." He kept to Bunyan's meaning and gives about the best running commentaries available. Buy the original for its poetic language, but if you want to understand its timeless message and have a fun read, buy this version. In fact, buy five copies and share them with friends. It was the message, not the language, which made this one of two books almost every English family owned in Bunyan's times.
Love the book. There are no chapters, so I divided it into 9 parts , so my daughter can read for school. It’s easy to read and the footnotes on every page are great to use as reference.
Purchased to replace my original copy which was falling apart. Good read and re-read for all Believers. Takes you back to a different time.
Great book for Christians who at times, (regularly) fall into doubt. Focus on the Gospel, this will help.
Good translation for modern readers. I really enjoyed the book and the footnotes help me to follow and understand the message and meaning.
I gave this as a graduation gift to someone I had read a children's version of Pilgrim's Progress with many years ago. It is a perfect combination of the book itself and simple commentary.
