I absolutely love this one, I wish there were more coloring books out there that looked like this one. My only complaint is that aren't more pictures to color!
Not exactly as advertised, as a lot of the pictures are just a lady smiling with no space background- if you're comfortable doing some of your drawing there is enough blank space to put them in any setting you want though. Colored pencils only- the paper is too thin for markers; and don't press too hard or do too many layers with your pencils or the paper will dent and shred somewhat.
I really like this! It's super fun and quirky. I got it for a white elephant gift and I liked it enough I might end up purchasing it again the next time I need a quirky gift. There's a surprising amount of variety considering what seems to be a somewhat narrow topic. There's a space botanist, a space opera singer, a space motorcycle chick, and all kinds of other fat fabulous ladies in spaaaaace. I've ordered a few humorous adult coloring books and this is definitely my favorite. Not super intricate art. It would also be fine for kids, there's nothing offensive in it. They might not get the humour, but it might be good for a little girl who isn't good at fitting into her stereotypical little girl role. All the women in this book appear to be having a blast doing whatever it is they are doing.
I love Nicole Lorenz's coloring books. They detailed enough to be fun but not overcrowded with redundant details like 200 identical flowers in other boring coloring books. Hers are more interesting. My favorite is her book about mermaids and then the dinosaurs one.The characters in this were great but she didn't put as many backgrounds in this book. In the others, there was scenery. To me, just the character on a white backdrop is less fun. I guess you could draw your own background. I'll definitely buy all of her books and whatever she comes out with next. They're the best product for grown ups to color that I've found.
Sent this to my sister as a holiday gift. Her and my mother got a kick out of it, especially the witty and imaginitive captions. I had it sent to me first, to wrap myself, and took a peek at its pages. I can't speak for my sister but I thought the backgrounds of each page were limited and could use more detail. My guess is that the whole point was to showcase the ladies, but for an adult coloring book, it could have had more.
Funny. Kinda slim, for a fat girl book. Also as other have said not much space. Should just be called scifi bada** big girls. Was hoping the inside would have pictures like cover. The pictures are very minimal. Lots of empty space for a coloring book. Good message though.
The pictures are only on one side of the page so you can tear them out or color with markers. Each one is very different, the outfits, the bodies, the hair, the props/scenes, and even the ethnicities. It's a great book but very booby.
I love that these promote positive body image. They are incredibly not challenging though, and my 6-year-old confiscated the book. Some of the outfits aren't really child appropriate, but I am pretty sure this book isn't made for kids, plus- my kid watched New Girl when she was 3, so I don't mind.
